Ask “is there one” before “what is it”

In China, payment, taxis, and maps all run on your phone, so connectivity and battery are real needs. Drill the “有没有” and “是多少” patterns first.

Drill the “……是多少?” pattern

Use “……是多少?” to ask password, phone number, and price.

没电 vs 没流量 are different problems

“没电” means out of battery; “没流量” means out of mobile data. Different problems, different fixes.

Three steps for asking Wi-Fi

In a cafe, hotel, or airport, ask “这里有 Wi-Fi 吗?” first, then “Wi-Fi 密码是多少?” Many shops print the password on the receipt or post it on the wall — staff may just point at it.

If you need the network name, ask “Wi-Fi 名字是什么?” before asking for the password. If the answer comes too fast, handing over your phone so they can type it is completely normal.

Bad internet and low battery

Common travel problems include “网络不好”, “信号不好”, and “手机没电了”. In China these are not minor annoyances — QR payment, subway codes, and taxis all need your phone online, so these lines explain why you suddenly cannot pay.

If you need charging, ask “可以充电吗?” or “哪里可以充电?” Most restaurants and cafes are happy to help.

Power banks and data: two real travel needs

Shared power-bank cabinets (brands like 街电 and 怪兽充电) sit in malls, restaurants, and stations all over China — scan the QR code to rent one and return it to any cabinet of the same brand. “哪里可以租充电宝?” almost always gets an answer.

Mobile data is “流量”. Without it, much of daily life stops working, so getting a SIM or eSIM on arrival matters. In a pinch, ask a friend “你可以开热点吗?” (Can you turn on a hotspot?)

A full dialogue (read along)

You: 你好,这里有 Wi-Fi 吗? Staff: 有,密码在小票上. You: 好的,谢谢. (A bit later) You: 不好意思,我的手机快没电了,可以充电吗? Staff: 那边有共享充电宝,扫码就可以租. You: 太好了,谢谢!

Listen once, then repeat line by line. Swap “充电” for “租充电宝”, or “Wi-Fi 密码” for “电话号码” — the patterns stay identical.

Prepare two kinds of Wi-Fi questions

In cafes, hotels, and airports, you usually ask two things: whether there is Wi-Fi and what the password is. Drill “有 Wi-Fi 吗?” and “密码是多少?” first.

If the connection is bad, do not only say “不行”. Add “连不上” or “网有点慢” so the other person knows whether it is a password, signal, or device issue.

A 5-minute review route

Minute one is only for the core lines: “这里有 Wi-Fi 吗?”、“Wi-Fi 密码是多少?”、“这里网络不好。”. Do not add new vocabulary yet; first make sure you can read the characters aloud and turn the English meaning back into Mandarin.

Minutes two to four change one real variable: place, quantity, time, person, or preference. In the final minute, close the page and say the idea with your own details. PandaKiko treats this guide as learned only when you can turn “这里有 Wi-Fi 吗?” into your own sentence.
