How to use this pattern

Use 听 with music. Songs often use the measure word 首.

Practice routine

Use “这首歌很好听” to comment on songs.

Common mistake

好听 is for sound and music; 好看 is for visual appearance.

Listening to music and singing

Use “听” for listening to music and “唱” for singing. You can say “我喜欢听音乐” or “我喜欢唱歌”.

For specific songs, use the measure word “首”: 一首歌, 这首歌, 那首歌.

Talk about favorite singers

To ask who someone likes, say “你喜欢哪个歌手?” Answer with “我喜欢……” plus the singer's name.

Use “好听” for songs and sound, and “好看” for videos or movies. “这首歌很好听” is a natural music comment.

A complete music conversation

The exchange moves from genre to song title and singer, then completes the information handoff with 发给你. Replace pop with rock, classical, jazz, or electronic music, and use a song you genuinely like.

首, 张, and 位 count different things

Songs take 首, as in 一首歌. Albums often take 张, as in 一张专辑. A polite classifier for a singer is 位, as in 这位歌手. Learning the classifier with its noun is easier than memorizing an isolated list.

听音乐 describes the activity of listening. 听起来 introduces an auditory impression. 这首歌听起来很轻松 evaluates how the song feels rather than simply saying that you are currently listening.

Practice recommending, responding, and changing volume

One person recommends 你可以听听这首歌. The other responds with 很好听, 不是我喜欢的风格, or 我听不懂歌词, then asks for the singer or title.

Move the scene into a car or cafe and practice 声音有点太大了,可以小一点吗? and 可以换一首吗? These polite requests make the music topic useful beyond simply naming preferences.

Use one song for a listening-and-speaking cycle

Choose a Mandarin song with clear lyrics and work only with the chorus. On the first listen, note repeated sounds or words. On the second, check the lyrics. On the third, shadow one line. Then describe the reaction with 这首歌听起来…… and 我最喜欢的一句是……. The goal is not to decode every character but to connect sound, wording, and personal response.

When exchanging recommendations, give a listening situation: studying, exercising, driving, or relaxing. The partner listens for thirty seconds and responds with 节奏很快, 声音很温柔, or 不是我常听的风格 before deciding whether to save it. A useful recommendation includes context, a reason, and feedback rather than only sending a link.

A concrete completion check

Choose two songs with clearly different styles. For each, give the title, singer, how it sounds, and a situation where it fits, then recommend one to a partner. The partner gives an honest reaction, and you continue with a relevant follow-up question about the song instead of only saying 好. Finish by making one polite volume request and one request to change the track. On the second run, do not use 喜欢 until the final sentence; describe rhythm, voice, lyrics, or mood first. You have completed the topic when a recommendation becomes a short exchange with context and feedback.

A short read-along dialogue

Learner: 我喜欢听音乐。. Other person: 好的,我听到了. Learner: 你喜欢哪个歌手?.

Open with “我喜欢听音乐。”, pause for the other person's reply, then add “你喜欢哪个歌手?” when it fits. A real exchange is not a page recited at once; the next line depends on what you hear.

Ask a partner to give one short follow-up. The goal is to choose a useful reply after listening, not to repeat a fixed script from memory.
